The bushfires of early February 2009 had a major impact on Gippsland communities. Initial funding was provided by the Commonwealth to provide community support and counselling for families and individuals who are not coping emotionally.
Centacare has received further funding, to provide services over 3 years, from the Archdiocese of Melbourne Bushfire Appeal, Diocese of Sale Bushfire Appeal and specific donations to Centacare directly.
Bushfire Appeal Make a DonationCentacare is the official welfare organisation of the Catholic Diocese of Sale. It provides a range of professional services to individuals, couples, families and communities.
Centacare is a member of a wider network of Catholic welfare organisations across Australia known as Catholic Social Services Australia and Catholic Social Service Victoria.
Centacare's services are available to all regardless of race, religion or economic status.
Fees apply to some programs on a sliding scale according to income. Concessions are always available, should the cost present a barrier to obtaining services.
Head office is in Warragul and services are offered also in Berwick, Morwell, Maffra, Sale and Bairnsdale.
Centacare Gippsland is committed to working towards justice in personal, family and community relationships with a deep sense of respect for life.
